nothing but atoms and ions?
Monday, February 28

haha, you know how some people have that existential crisis, where they suddenly realise that at the very basic level, all we're made up of is some ions and atoms floating around and coming together? whether it is our cells, our blood flowing around in our vessels, the bones and muscles that hold us up, our thoughts and emotions firing around in our brain --- all nothing but ions and atoms. and they start to wonder, "how pathetic are we, that we're nothing more than a compilation of these tiny little thing? how much are we really worth?"

don't worry, i'm not having one of those crises (: but well, i guess i see it rather differently.

okay, so yes, we're made up of these ions and atoms. but Somebody chose to put all of these together in so many different ways, making up all the different aspects of our body. Somebody chose to put together a collection of ions and make them into a 'thought', an 'emotion'.

this certain Someone used such simple building blocks, and managed to make such a complex array of aspects that make up the human. what's more, He made so many of us humans, each different from one another in our personalities, thought processes, everything! that's like using lego bricks to make a ferrari, rolce-royce, lamborghini and porche; complete with locks, tyres, car batteries, chic and cool exterior, windscreen; basically just every single part of the workings of a car! except, building humans from atoms and ions would probably be harder :P

the thought that Someone would actually bother putting together these atoms and ions to make me into the person that i am, and differentiate me from all the other humans around me, and do likewise for everyone else... well i can only stand here in awe and wonder.

so, the fact that i'm made of nothing but atoms and ions. should that make me feel worthless? no, on the contrary. i have the knowledge that Someone actually took the effort to make this collection of atoms and ions into this person that i am now. i marvel at the fact that Someone managed to create me, a complex organism, from such simple matter.

i'm Someone's creation.
i'm Someone's work of art.
i'm Someone's masterpiece.
as His masterpiece, i'm treasured by my Creator (:
and so is every single one of you (:

this is our God.
